Washington Homeschool Testing

NWEA® MAP® Growth™ tests are an excellent way to meet the Washington homeschool testing requirements. MAP Growth is a nationally normed test that assesses student growth. Affordable Homeschool Testing Services LLC is offering MAP Growth tests in reading, math, and language usage (optional). We use the 2015 norms and the same version of MAP Growth tests currently in use in schools across the country. The untimed, web-based tests are taken on your laptop, iPad, or Chromebook and administered remotely by Affordable Homeschool Testing Services LLC. There is no degree requirement for parents.

Washington Homeschool TestingMore often than not, families usually take the reading test on Monday, following up with the math on Tuesday, (optionally) finishing up language usage on Wednesday and receive the score report on Friday of the same week.

Computer adaptive MAP Growth assessments reveal precisely which academic concepts and skills the student has acquired and what they’re ready to learn. MAP® assessments are grade independent and adapt to each student’s instructional level. Every item on a MAP® assessment is anchored to a vertically aligned equal interval scale, called the RIT scale for Rasch UnIT—a stable measurement, like inches on a ruler, that includes all grades.

As a result of the measurements being reliable and accurate, the RIT scores serve as an essential data point in a student’s learning plan; teachers can perceive their precise learning level and respond accordingly.

MAP Growth creates a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student’s learning level—precisely measuring student progress and growth for each individual, ensuring it meets the Washington state homeschool requirements. You’ll have essential information about what each student knows and is ready to learn within the week.

Information about the Washington homeschool testing requirement can be found in the Washington State Board of Education–Home-based Instruction frequently asked questions. MAP Growths has been evaluated by the Buros Institute of Mental Measurements. Read more about Buros here.
