NWEA® MAP® Growth™
Math
Overview
NWEA MAP Growth Math is available for grades K through 12. There are six options for different levels and course-specific assessments. MAP Growth Math is based on common-core math standards.
The standard levels are K-2, 2-5, and 6+.
The course-specific options are Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry.
Please view the FACT SHEET for each option to determine the correct choice for your student.
Standard Levels
The standard level math assessments are the most commonly taken tests to measure student growth. They can be taken at any time during the school year.

K-2
Designed for Kindergarten through 2nd grade students.
The NWEA MAP test for grades K–2 is designed for students that are not yet independent readers.
The K-2 math level automatically includes audio-support that allows pre-reader students to test independently.
2-5
Designed for 2nd through 5th grade students.
The NWEA MAP test for grades 2–5 is designed for students that are reading independently.
Text-to-speech accommodation is available for students that need it.
6+
Designed for 6th through 12th grade students.
Text-to-speech accommodation is available for students that need it.
Course-specific Math Levels
Course-specific NWEA MAP Growth Math tests are designed for students that have been exposed to the high school level math courses of Algebra 1, Algebra 2, or Geometry.

Algebra 1
The Algebra 1 assessment is for students in grades 6-12 that are currently learning high school level Algebra 1.
Students can take this test instead of Math 6+ if they have been learning Algebra 1 exclusively.
Algebra 2
The Algebra 2 assessment for students in grades 6-12 that are currently learning high school level Algebra 2.
Students can take this test instead of Math 6+ if they have been learning Algebra 2 exclusively.
Geometry
The Geometry assessment for students in grades 6-12 that are currently learning high school level Geometry.
Students can take this test instead of Math 6+ if they have been learning Geometry exclusively.
Math Resources
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, students may use an abacus during testing.
They may also use scratch paper and pencil and counting blocks, counting bears, etc.
A calculator is allowed only when the toolbar displays a calculator icon. The ability to use a calculator will vary question to question.
Students should use only the calculator tool that is provided within the testing platform.
