Online Gifted Test

Is your child ready for a gifted test?

Online gifted tests for homeschool students can be challenging because students may be:

  • academically well above their official grade level
  • working at several different grade levels depending on the subject
  • learning so fast their parents aren’t sure what grade level is the best match.
  • asynchronous, lacking the maturity/attention span for the typical test at their academic level.

Cross-grade Testing

NWEA® MAP® GrowthTM has three levels: MAP Growth K–2, MAP Growth 2–5, and MAP Growth 6+. Each level is designed for a specific grade range but includes content for grades above and below the range. Each student takes the homeschooling online gifted test at the level that is right for them and not at an arbitrary grade level. This means that a student who is ready for 5th grade material will be tested at that level, whether they are in 3rd, 5th, or 7th grade. For particularly advanced students, they may be transitioned to the next level test.

Tailored to the Student

Standardized online gifted tests for students can be frustrating because often gifted children don’t learn in “grade-level” chunks. For example, a child who is passionate about geometry might be years ahead in that subject, while still struggling with multiplication facts. Each MAP Growth subject test measures student growth in three to four strands within the topic and adjusts to the level of the student in each, creating a truly customized testing experience.

Ideal for Young, Advanced Students

MAP Growth gifted student test is untimed, and many accommodations are available to ensure that the results reflect the student’s academic abilities, not their test-taking abilities. Students test at home, using the computer, iPad, or Chromebook they use regularly. MAP Growth K–2 includes audio support for children who aren’t reading independently. Parents are welcome to help students read questions on the math and language usage tests. We encourage parents to make the gifted child test online experience as low stress as possible: Take a break to pet the cat or jump on the trampoline. Have a snack. Sit in a comfy chair. Take all the time you need. Students typically spend about 30–45 minutes on each subject test.

Fast, Detailed Results

Test on the weekdays and times you choose, and receive a detailed score report within two business days. We include RIT scores, percentile ranking, the grade level for which the score is typical, estimated Lexile and a prediction of their future RIT score, based on the performance of their academic peers. In addition, you will receive detailed learning statements showing what your child knows, and what they are ready to learn next, so you will have the information you need to help them grow.
