NWEA MAP Device Requirements

This page outlines the technical requirements required for a successful testing experience with NWEA MAP Growth and NWEA MAP Reading Fluency.

General Testing Requirements

Please note: Mozilla Firefox is no longer supported for NWEA testing

Test the compatibility of the device that will be used for testing with the Diagnostic Tool button below.

MAP Growth Testing Requirements

Device Options

App Testing

Creates a secure testing environment by preventing students from opening other windows, tabs, applications, etc. while testing. This option is available only on Apple iPad and requires use of the NWEA Secure Testing app – download here.

Browser Testing

A flexible option with the ability to use Googe Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari (Mac/iPad only) browsers. The test window will open in a separate pop-up window from the rest of the browser, but does not prevent the student from accessing other windows, tabs, applications, etc. on the device. Access the Student Login page here.

Pop-up Blockers

Pop-up blockers must be disabled to allow pop-ups for the test window to open properly. Please see our guide to adjust your browser’s pop-up settings.

Headphones

MAP Reading Fluency has sections that are read-aloud and sections that require the student to read-aloud into a microphone depending on the test track they are completing.

Because of this, students are required to use a headset or headphones that meet specific requirements – these are listed below.
